Valeria Marquez was killed when a man entered his beauty salon in the city of Guadalajara “and apparently pulled a weapon on her,” according to the office of the state prosecutor of Jalisco.
The reason for the deadly attack has not been identified, but the case is the subject of an investigation as femicide – when women and girls are killed because of their gender, said the state prosecutor.
Gender -based violence is very common in Mexico where the UN reports that 10 women or girls are murdered every day by partners or family members.

A few seconds later, she was killed, with the images only ending when another person won his phone to stop the recording.
Local media reports say that she was killed by a man who pretended to bring him a gift.
The police arrived at the scene around 6.30 p.m. local time (12:30 p.m. GMT) and confirmed the death of Ms. Marquez, according to the state prosecutor.
The prosecutor’s office did not appoint a suspect.
Fans of Ms. Marquez, whose following social media totaled nearly 200,000 through Tiktok and Instagram, reacted with horror to his death.
The mayor of Zapopan, Juan José Francie, said that his office had no file that Ms. Marquez asked for help from the authorities due to threats against her, adding that “a femicide is the worst thing,” said AFP news agency.
