Europe will work with Ukraine to develop a plan to “stop fighting” with Russia before presenting a plan for peace to US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said on Sunday.
Starmer, speaking on the BBC, said: “We have agreed that the United Kingdom, as well as France and perhaps one or two others, will work with Ukraine on a plan to stop the fighting. Then we will discuss this plan with the United States. »»
His comments came while 19 national leaders met for a summit in London to develop a plan to support Ukraine after the disastrous meeting of the White House between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump on Friday.
The mainly European discussion also included Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Turkish Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan. Most of the meeting takes place behind closed doors with a press conference expected later Sunday afternoon.
In the United States, the national security advisor Mike Waltz said that Russia should make concessions on Ukraine security in exchange for compromises in the territory in any agreement to end his war with Ukraine.
“This war must end, and this will take concessions on the territory. This will take Russian concessions on security guarantees, ”Waltz told CNN.
