Errol Musk, the father of billionaire Elon Musk, has suggested his son may be interested in acquiring Liverpool Football Club.
Speaking to Times Radio, Musk Sr. revealed the family’s connection to the city and shared his views on the tech genius’ potential interest to Premier League bosses.
Musk Sr. explained the family’s historical ties to Liverpool, as Elon’s paternal grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was born there before moving to South Africa.
“He would like [buy Liverpool]yes, obviously,” said Musk Sr. “Anyone would want it – me too!”
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool and we have family in Liverpool. We were lucky enough to know a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family members.
“So we are committed to Liverpool, you know…”
While discussing the idea of a purchase, Musk Sr. expressed concerns that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s current owners, could increase the price if they were aware of interest in ‘Elon Musk.

This is not the first time Musk’s name has been associated with owning a football club. In 2022, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX caused a stir on social media by tweeting that he was buying Manchester United.
“Welcome to Manchester United,” Musk posted, sparking a frenzy among fans.
The tweet quickly garnered tens of thousands of retweets and more than 200,000 likes. However, he later clarified that it was a joke, responding to a comment on the original post with: “No, this is a long-standing joke on Twitter.” I don’t buy any sports team. But if it was a team it would be Man Utd. They were my favorite team when I was a kid.
“And I don’t buy Coca-Cola and put cocaine back in it, despite the extreme popularity of such a move.”
While Errol Musk’s comments have reignited speculation about Elon Musk’s entry into the world of football ownership, the billionaire has not confirmed any plans to buy Liverpool.
Fans will no doubt be watching closely to see if the Tesla CEO makes a serious move to expand his Premier League empire.
