Liverpool fans have endured a few frustrating weeks, looking at their team to lose the final of the League Cup against Newcastle, crash from the Champions League and face the shock of the imminent departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold for Real Madrid during a free transfer this summer.
The right back was linked to a move to Madrid since last summer, the Giants of Liga, initially considering an early approach before going to wait for it and sign it for free.
His decision has left many fans feeling betrayed, with a frustration that rose to the way he managed the situation, in particular given his deep ties with the club.
Adding to Liverpool concerns, contractual uncertainty is looming on two of their largest stars – the Mohame Salah and Virgil Van Dijk. Although the two led more with respect to the club and its fans, negotiations on new transactions remain unresolved, leaving supporters worried about their future.
Liverpool does its best offer to date for Mo Salah
However, there may be a glimmer of hope concerning Salah. According to Masrawy Egyptian press outletLiverpool “concluded serious negotiations” for a contract renewal for the star striker, potentially softening part of the growing tension.
According to the report, the negotiations take place with Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, and are at much more advanced steps. He claims that the club made an offer “greater than any offer made to the player before”.
The report also suggests that the imminent departure of Alexander-Arnold played a key role in the renewed club proposal. With its softening release the wage bill, Liverpool is now able to offer Salah “what he wants”.
Liverpool needs to keep Salah
Reds must do everything to secure Salah’s future with a new contract. The winger has aged like a beautiful (non -alcoholic) wine, now an extraordinary level of coherence.
Its figures this season are nothing less than sensational goals – 32 goals and 22 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions – playing a key role in the title of Liverpool title under the Arne machine.
Since his arrival in Anfield, Salah has been the club’s talisman, amassing 243 scandalous goals and 110 assists in 392 games.
Given its incessant release and its impeccable fitness, allowing it to leave – in particular on a free transfer – would be a monumental error.
