Swiggy’s latest move from the social media left the gap on the Internet – literally. The food delivery giant went to X (formerly Twitter) to share a food combo that moves the stomach: Maggi plunged to Chai.
Publishing two images – one showing a plate of Maggi next to a cup of chai, the other with Maggi plunged into tea – Swiggy subtitled the post, “Maggi with cellar or maggi in Chai?” The reaction? A “no!” Resounding horrified masses.
A user has not retained, declaring, “You are blocked.” Another pushed even further, declaring, “5 years’ imprisonment”.
Some reactions have been laced with humor, but others have raised concerns beyond taste. A user called the message as being purely simple, warning, “Paap Laega Bhai Tumlogo Ko.”(You will be cursed for that)
The position quickly took place in a debate on food creativity against culinary crimes. While bizarre food trends have flooded social media – from Oreo Maggi to infused noodles to Fanta – this one struck a particularly sour note.
Another user criticized Swiggy for the potential consequences of his viral post, warning: “Some could call him creativity; I call it food waste.
Criticism did not stop to taste – it turned into a broader conversation on the responsibility of social media. A user called Swiggy, declaring: “@Swiggy, do you realize that whatever the brands and influencers published on social networks, even for pleasure, he has the potential to imitate by subscribers? Imagine people who repeat this act for pleasure, tastes and sharing. How many foods would be wasted! Please publish responsiblely.
While some Internet users can have a stomach for food experiences, this particular concoction seems to have crossed the line. That Swiggy intends to shock or amuse, one thing is clear – Maggi to Chai will not strike the restaurant menus anytime soon.
