The leaders of the Liga League Barcelona are detained at home by the real Betis after Madrid be beaten by Valence.
Barcelona was detained at home by Real Betis in a 1-1 draw, because the Spanish leaders of Laliga failed to fully capitalize on a shock defeat for Real Madrid earlier during the day.
The reigning champions were beaten 2-1 in the Spanish capital on Saturday by a Valencia team which recorded its first victory outside the season.
The impact result for Madrid was softened a few hours later when the Hansi Flick team extended its lead at only four points, the two teams that played 30 games.
There are eight rounds of the Laliga season, including a classico in May.
In a match of the hottest teams in Laliga, Betis rallied to pull the level, then resisted a second half assault in Barcelona.
GAVI PAEZ dried a house with a low strike after a nice configuration of Ferran Torres to give Barcelona the advance in the seventh minute.
In fifth place, Betis traveled Natan’s head 10 minutes later, and goalkeeper Adrian San Miguel and former defender of Barcelona Marc Bartra brought a multitude of shots by the hosts to divide the points.
“It is clear, if we had won, we would be later, but it is football,” said Gavi about to miss the possibility of moving to six points. “We had our chances, but we could not convert and leave with a bitter taste in our mouths.”
True coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted following the defeat of Valence that the defense of their title was now under strong pressure.
The Italian added that his players will not abandon their aspirations of Laliga.
“It is much more difficult to fight for the League, but we only have one idea and it is to fight until the end because we have a chance after this match,” said Ancelotti.
Barcelona welcomes Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, while Real Madrid faces Arsenal on Tuesday.
Still in Laliga on Saturday, Celta Vigo won Mallorca 2-1, while Alaves won in Girona 1-0.
