Middlesbrough confirmed the appointment of Rob Edwards as a chief coach for a three-year contract.
Edwards moved to Teesside to succeed Michael Carrick, who was dismissed after Middlesbrough failed to reach the championship qualifiers last season.
The 42 -year -old had experienced an impressive increase after guiding Forest Green Rovers and Luton to the promotion, but left the hats in January with the club at the edge of a second successive relegation.

The appointment of Boro is a privilege – Edwards
Edwards said: “It is a real privilege to have the opportunity to be a head coach of this big football club. It is something that is not lost for me, how important it is, how important it is and what it means for people. There is an incredible fans base.
“It was instantly that it was good for me and that it excited me. If I was going to come back, I wanted to come back to a place where we had a chance, and we have a very good chance here.
“We have a brilliant owner who historically gives his coaches the time, support and tools necessary to try to succeed. I can’t wait to start now. ”
Edwards is renowned for a physical and direct approach and it remains to be seen if it is well with the faithful of Riverside.
Edwards was our first choice – Scott
But Boro’s football chief Kieran Scott said the former Blackpool defender was the out -of -competition candidate.
“Rob is someone I have known for a long time and I have respect for its development as a coach,” said Scott.
“He made the story to Forest Green Rovers, and winning the Premier League promotion with Luton Town was a fantastic achievement.
“We had an exciting basin of candidates for this role, but we estimated that Rob was the show and was very impressed to meet him and listening to him to talk about his vision of the club.
“We are delighted that Rob has agreed to join us and look forward to the future.”
