Paul Pogba has signed a two -year agreement with Monaco, marking his return to high -level football after serving a doping suspension.
The 32-year-old midfielder, formerly of Manchester United and Juventus, had been temporarily prohibited after a routine drug test after the opening of Serie A Juventus against Udinese during the 2023-24 season.
This suspension was initially set at four years, but following a call, it was reduced to 18 months in October.
After the decision, Pogba and Juventus agreed to separate from November by mutual consent. As a free agent, he became eligible to resume his career from March this year.
This new chapter of Monaco represents the first time that Pogba will appear in Ligue 1, despite a large part of his youth career in France.
The Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) said in its final judgment that the prohibited substance in question was dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), which is known to increase testosterone levels and is prohibited by the World Anti -Doping Agency (AMA).

Case said: “DHEA has only one effect on women.” The substance had been inadvertently ingested, according to the decision.
Pogba’s professional trip began in Manchester United before a move to Juventus, where he played a key role in their domestic domination. His first four seasons in Turin saw him win four consecutive titles from Serie A, including two double servants.
In 2016, he made a return to Manchester United for what was then world record transfer costs of 89 million pounds sterling. His first season at Old Trafford produced both the Europa League trophies and the FA Cup.
Internationally, Pogba was crowned 91 times for France and was an out -of -competition interpreter at the 2018 World Cup. He marked in the final when France beat Croatia to raise the trophy in Russia.
However, the last years of his second visit to Manchester United have been tainted with injuries and inconsistency. A free transfer of transfer to Juventus failed to rekindle its shape, and its time in Turin ended prematurely.
