The actress reflected on the importance of her home to her in the poignant caption.
“A childhood friend of mine called it “The Church” because the 14-foot stained-glass ceilings in the living room cast colorful shadows at the end of the day. And to me it was sacred, a sanctuary where we felt safest. Christmas dinners, Easter egg hunts, treats, weddings, birthdays, baby showers…we celebrated the best times of our lives there,” Zooey wrote. “The family photos that lined the hallways, the artwork, the piano I learned to play, the wedding china, the furniture built by my great-great-grandfather…the memories of generations past : all disappeared into thin air. »
She continued: “I know we are not alone. Along with another beautiful Los Angeles neighborhood, Alta Dena, the streets of my childhood in Pacific Palisades have been all but erased as we knew them. So many people have lost so much.
Zoeey then paid tribute to those who supported herself, her family and her community. She also paid special tribute to the firefighters who worked tirelessly on the front line, describing them as “true heroes”.
“To everyone who showed up for us, our community and Los Angeles in general: thank you. To the firefighters who worked around the clock to keep everyone safe: you are our true heroes,” added Zoeey. “To the friends who have been so wonderful to think of us during this time: you texted and called, came to visit, cooked us meals, sent clothes to my parents who left with nothing , you entertained us with humor and cried with us when we needed it. Your kindness is the balm that made this bearable. To the strangers who lifted our spirits with kind gestures: you are the true meaning of community.
She concluded: “Thank you all for showing us the kindness in your hearts. You have no idea how much this means to us.
