After having fought an extremely entertaining first fight, public demand is at a record level, because combat fans want to see the rest between the light world champion WBA Gervonta “tank” Davis and the world champion of superpume WBA LAMONT ROACH JR.
On the night of March 1, at the Brooklyn Barclays Center, New York, the Davis VS Roach fight started slow, but while the two fighters were punctuating, the action resumed. It was a close tactical match, but at the end of the 12 laps competition, the three judges marked him as a draw.
When the fight was announced for the first time, hardcore boxing fans were not too impressed by the match because they thought Roach was a cherry choice. Occasional fans have embraced the fight mainly due to the rivalry of Baltimore-Washington DC. Champion Gervonta Davis is from Baltimore, and the challenger, Lamont Roach, is from Washington DC
Normally, a typical fight by Gervonta Davis takes place like this favorite film that you watch again and again. You know what’s going to happen, but you still like to look at it. Davis usually starts slowly because he takes his time to download the data in the first laps.
He proceeds to track down his opponent as he applies intense pressure during the middle laps, then he stops his opponents in the last laps. On the night of March 1, Lamont Roach refused to follow the script. Roach emulated a boxer from the 90s who also left the script.
In November 1996, Mike Tyson defended his world WBA heavyweight title against the Challenger of the Evander Holyfield oppressed. Everyone provided that artist Knockout Mike Tyson would stop Holyfield, but unfortunately for Tyson, his opponent did not get the service note.
The combat combat, Evander Holyfield was ready and confident. Whenever Tyson won a significant shot, Holyfield has provided an immediate response. Holyfield fought inside the pocket, won the respect of Tyson and continued to arrest Tyson in the eleventh round.
In the revenge match, Tyson could not intimidate Holyfield and by frustration, he bit Holyfield’s ear in the third round. After being notified and penalized two points, Tyson was disqualified after having bit Holyfield’s ear for the second time.
Twenty-eight years later, when Lamont Roach entered the square circle to face the artist Knockout Gervonta “Tank” Davis, most fighting fans supposed that Roach would be well, but would stop in the last laps.
Throughout the fight, Roach was ready, concentrated and confident. While the 5th round was coming to an end, Davis spoke of garbage while launching three consecutive left hands. Roach answered by speaking in return, then landing several bodies.
A few seconds later, while the two boxers were involved in a melee, Davis raised his right shoulder and hit the roach under the chin. Roach responded by hitting Davis with a short right hand. Halfway through Tour 6, it appeared that Davis had tried to bite Roach’s ear.
Intimidation was not a factor because Roach stood regularly in his pocket and exchanged strokes with Davis. A critical non-appeal occurred in the 9th when Davis took a knee, but the referee did not rule it like a knockdown. While the fight ended, a judge marked the fight (115-113) for Davis, and the other two judges marked the fight (114-114).
Similar to Evander Holyfield, Lamont Roach was not confused by being the oppressed which collided with the intimidating artist Knockout. The only difference was that Holyfield won the victory, and Roach had to settle for a draw.
However, since he has performed well and has exceeded expectations, Lamont Roach should be ready to receive a revenge match against Gervonta Davis in the near future. At this point, the question will be that Lamont Roach will follow in the footsteps of Evander Holyfield and obtain a signature victory over the world renowned artist?
