Is the comment track a lost art? For those who get their films at home via streaming services, this is certainly the case. Unfortunately, the main services do not offer any kind of bonus features, while VOD purchases are only delivered with a small selection of content. For those of us who still love the altar of the physical media, the piece of academic commentary is very alive, each version containing at least one piece examining a film. However, the two groups must bear the loss of what was a must for Hollywood: the distribution comments track for a recent film. While they continue to arise on occasion, they have become extremely rare, which is bizarre for anyone who was there for the apogee of the DVD. Heck, the comments were such a prerequisite that in 2008, “Tropic Thunder”, Kirk Lazarus by Robert Downey Jr. (playing Lincoln Osiris) made a joke about not dropping the character until he needed the comment of the DVD, and it was a joke that the majority of the audiences did not need them.

To be fair, once contemporary comments on the distribution of a film and the crew became the norm for a short time, they tended to be an armed experience, lawyers and public relations companies keeping closely what was said. Fortunately, this was not the case with the first days of the comments, and the brilliant example of this brief golden age is the acting track of the actors and the crew for “Armageddon” of 1998. The song, which is presented on the release of the collection of film criteria on DVD (yes, you have read this correctly), is one of the most refreshing comments ever recorded (even among the songs that were then prohibited). The version contains two distinct comments tracks, and the second of them (with the comments of the NASA consultant, Dr. Joe Allen, asteroid consultant Ivan Dekey, and the director of photography John Schwartzman) is just as vigorous as his more infamous counterpart (including Wildly Off Color de Schwartzman comments Tyler).

But the main event is the comment of director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck, all recorded separately. While each man says remarkably unhappy things, it is the deliciously unconcented comments of Affleck who have become the fabric of legend, something that the actor / director has now adopted, given his recent comments on his old comments.
Affleck considers its “Armageddon” comment track to be his “best job”
During the publication of the release of “The Accountant 2” of this month, Affleck was in the press to review the ups and downs of his career as he awaits the next step. Between the discussion of his previous realization work and his appearance in films like the very submissive films (and Memed, thanks to the horror of “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”) Horror “Phantoms”, Affleck spoke of his franchise on the “Armageddon” DVD. When he was interviewed by GQ in March, the typically self-deprecating Affleck was funny on his contribution:

“This is one of the achievements of my career on which I am ready to tap my back. I think it may be at least Top five DVD comments of all time. By the way, no one told me anything. I don’t think other people listened to it or gave it up to years later, when it was played. And I was a little shocked and dismayed that I went there and that I started to be like … I mean, it’s true. Everything I said was a hundred percent real, but that’s the point. You are not supposed to continue there and say all of truth. “”
This week has seen the Tour of Affleck inside the Criterion closet, the head office in which the entire collection of criteria is stored, where various public figures are invited to come and take films and talk about their personal link with them. During his time there, Affleck caught a copy of the DVD “Armageddon” and talked about his happiness with the comments track:

“Retrospectively, now, I have the impression that maybe my best job in my career is the comment on this disc. People approach me to talk about the comment on this disc as much as they do, like the films in which I went. And it is because I was not better than being really honest … It is a success.”
Judging by these comments, Affleck seems to suffocate that he both went out with what he said on the track as well as his navyness then on how to behave in terms of comments and interviews. Of course, he has a sparkle in his eyes when he discusses the whole case, but his admiration for the track and the moment in time, he was recorded also seems authentic.
The “Armageddon” commentary is an example of honesty making work more convincing
So what were these comments that Affleck is so proud of and people are so in love? Well, apart from the no-BS general content of its appearance, Affleck used its time on the track of the comments to ask fundamental and fundamental logical questions concerning the absurd intrigue of “Armageddon”. As he remembers during this GQ interview, he simply connected his real experience while making the film:

“I didn’t expect” Oh, it’s going to be a genius. “I thought I’m going to make a great Hollywood action film and I love it. [Bay]Why is it easier to train oil drills to be astronauts than to form astronauts to unravel a hole in the ground? “”
Yes, this is the kind of smart-alleck (or should it be intelligent?) Comment that most people can and make levels on the more flagrant Hollywood blockbusters, and for those who find the large brand of Michael Bay to their intelligence, it is a breath of fresh air. However, this franchise is also something that makes Bay’s film more endearing, no less. During the track, the comments of Affleck as well as the painting of Willis and especially of the bay, an image of warts and the whole film, of the successful sausage, with subjects ranging from the questionable science of the film to the use of helicopters in the background of a random establishment to spend thousands of dollars to replace the teeth of the Affleck (a story that says that Affleck is “Gone Hate” And, unfortunately, is rushing, outcrop, which is no longer understood, and ,,,,,,,, And ,,,,,,,,,,

Despite how much we could pierce holes and make fun of “Armageddon”, the fact that it was done (and was super successful) is an art in itself, and the director of the director of Bay is a film that displays a real gonzo heart in the middle of all the disproportionate jingism. By the way, this cup is currently available only on the Criterion DVD. As Affleck says himself in his closet video: “Criterion, when does the 4K come out?”
