Former Barcelona striker, Christoph Dugarry, said that Real Madrid “touched the bottom” with their driving before and during their defeat of Copa del Rey this weekend.
The European champions lost 3-2 against Barça in overtime – Jules Kounde allowed a late winner for the Catalans – but that only told half the story of a controversial weekend.
Madrid rekindled their campaign against the referees before the match, then opposed their right to an answer while, on the field, they sent three players because the defeat was accompanied by shame.
Dugarry requests an action against Madrid
And Dugarry, who played for Barça in a career that has also seen spells with Bordeaux, AC Milan and Marseille as well as 55 appearances for France, believes that strong measures must be taken.
He told Rothen ignite Show: “I always wonder how the biggest club in the world can carry out such a discredit campaign against the referee before a match. What example does Real Madrid give young people from the world?
“They must be punished. If they don’t, it will be a disaster for football. It will not be surprising to see young people moving away from the most popular sport in the world because of what leaders do, using methods of violence.
“They trampled on football. Real Madrid has hit the bottom. “

A controversy weekend
Madrid had before the match for referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea and the official of Var Pablo Gonzalez Fuertes to replace after the two officials described their disgust in a video on the internal television channel of the club who highlighted the errors made during their career.
The biggest appeal of the Bengoetxea game was in favor of Madrid because, following a Var examination on the pitchid monitor, he reversed his initial decision to grant Barcelona a penalty of 96th minute after Raul Asecio seemed to bring Raphinha to fall.
This meant that normal time ended with the level of play at 2-2, Ferran Torres having equalized after the Kylian Mbappe free kick and the Aurelien Tchouameni gave Madrid a second half after the opening of Pedri for the Barca.
But Kounde’s fierce journey in the 116th minute won the victory for Barcelona when they stayed in the CAP for the triples, and caused anger scenes from the Madrid bench with defender Antonio Rudiger having to be selected to bypass the civil servants after being sent.
Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vazquez were also rejected while Madrid lost their discipline.
